Breaking Ground on Petrol Filling Station Marks New Phase in Renishaw Coastal Precinct Development
Submitted by: Olivia Jones Communications
The economic awakening of the KZN Mid-South Coast continues with key developments in the Renishaw Coastal Precinct, a 1,300-hectare mixed-use development. Construction has commenced on bulk services for Hampson’s petrol filling station, a milestone that supports the region’s existing businesses and attracts further investment to boost the local economy.
A New Hub for the Region
The petrol filling station, convenience store, and fast-food drive-through will be developed by Hampsons, a family-owned business with nearly a century of service in Scottburgh. Located at the main Renishaw entrance circle on Dududu Road, this expansion is a significant step for Hampsons, which currently operates a BP fuel station, Isuzu dealership, and Suzuki dealership in Scott Street, Scottburgh.
Owner Gareth Hampson commented:
Hampson’s expansion aims to serve the community and visitors entering Scottburgh from the N2, as well as residents of Scottburgh and surrounding areas, including Amandawe, Clansthal, Scottburgh South, Park Rynie, and Renishaw Hills.
Boosting Local Development
Renishaw Hills, the mature lifestyle estate and the first phase of the Renishaw Coastal Precinct, has seen property values increase by 60% since 2016. It was highlighted by President Cyril Ramaphosa for its significant investment contribution at the 5th SA Investment Conference.
At a recent briefing, Renishaw Coastal Precinct announced advanced negotiations for a new school within the development, expected to influence property investment decisions. Joining the petrol station development is a site sold to Cubisol Property Fund, which plans to construct a shopping centre and potential apartments, complementing its current ownership of the Scottburgh Mall.
A Collaborative Vision
Barto van der Merwe, Managing Director of Renishaw Coastal Precinct, emphasised the importance of working with local businesses:
The precinct’s recent sales and developments have triggered a wave of economic activity, benefitting the local community and attracting outside investment.
