Now in its fifteenth year, the 702 Walk the Talk is a popular sporting event on Jo’burg’s calendar that encourages entrants to walk for a cause, belief or charity and pave the way for a chosen initiative.
Taking place on Sunday, 26 July, approximately 50 000 participants took to the streets of Emmarentia, Johannesburg with three distances to be walked; the 5km and 8km fun walks and the 15km time trial route.Walkers wanting to make the event a family affair could bring their four-legged friends along for the shorter 5km and 8km routes. The proceedings kicked off at Marks Park Sports Club where employees from the brand activation, event and entertainment company, Zinto Marketing Group (Zinto), joined together to raise awareness for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).“ASD patients form a minority of our society, they receive little help or attention, and therefore our acknowledgement and investment can make significant changes to their quality of life. As ‘regular’ citizens we often take normal day-to-day activities for granted and not much thought is given to those who may struggle with social skills, language abnormalities and behavioural differences,” says Zinto’s CEO, Michelle Combrinck.Combrinck applauded Walk the Talk for providing a health platform that fosters a culture of active citizenry through its involvement with organisations that promote and highlight the importance of numerous fundraising initiatives.A percentage of the proceeds are donated to the participating charity groups to assist patients with treatment costs, aid potential patients with diagnosis as well as funding the development of healthcare support in South Africa. For more, visit www.zinto.co.za.
