Mr D’s Contribution Warms Hearts and Provides Meals at MES Ekuthuleni Shelter

(16 October 2024) – In a heartwarming partnership, Mr D has made a significant contribution to MES, a non-profit organisation dedicated to uplifting the homeless and vulnerable, just in time for World Food Day on 16 October. This day serves as a global reminder of the importance of food security and the role we all play in eradicating hunger.
Ready Steady Cook Campaign
As part of its "Ready Steady Cook" campaign, Mr D donated R15 000 worth of grocery coupons to MES for use in its Ekuthuleni kitchen during the icy winter months. This initiative allowed MES to purchase Pick n Pay groceries efficiently and conveniently through Mr D's grocery service.
The ease of ordering and prompt delivery from Mr D significantly impacted MES’s ability to feed those in need. Groceries were easily selected online from Pick n Pay at in-store prices and delivered in under an hour, ensuring the soup kitchen remained well-stocked with fresh ingredients, even during challenging times.
A Meaningful Partnership
“At Mr D, we believe that giving back to our communities is just as important as the convenience we offer our customers. In the bigger scheme of things, our partnership with MES may have been a small gesture, but it is still one that filled the plates of those in need during the colder months,” says Su-Lise Tessendorf-Louw, Mr D Chief Marketing Officer.
This contribution comes at a crucial time when many communities face economic hardships and food insecurity. By supporting MES in winter, Mr D enabled the organisation to continue providing warm, nutritious meals to those less fortunate.
Gratitude from MES
Brigitte Potgieter, Resource Developer at MES, expressed her gratitude, stating, “The ordering and deliveries have been running smoothly. The groceries we are getting are making a real difference. Thank you so much!”
“Mr D is a firm believer in connection—whether it's bringing families together over a meal or supporting vital community initiatives like MES. We're proud to be part of a network that uplifts and empowers, and this donation is a small step towards making a meaningful difference in people's lives,” concludes Su-Lise.
