South African law firms invited to check and update their free CallMyLawyer profiles

The free South African lawyer directory CallMyLawyer is inviting law firms to check their listings and researched profiles, and to send corrections or updates at no cost. The directory lists 1,073 firms in 171 towns, and 840 of them already have a full profile written from the firm's own website and other official sources.

How people find firms on the directory

Visitors search by the legal problem they have and the town they live in. They then compare a short list of local firms and contact them directly by phone, email or through the firm's website. There are no paid placements in the rankings, and CallMyLawyer takes no share of legal fees. Profiles appear on town pages, on town and practice area pages such as labour lawyers in Sandton, and on each firm's own profile page.

What firms can update

• practice areas and the main kinds of work the firm takes on
• offices, branches, hours and languages
• directors, partners and team size
• contact details, website and logo
• the courts the firm regularly works in, including correspondent work

Why accuracy matters

The research behind the profiles found many outdated public listings: firms that had moved offices, changed names, merged, or listed directors who had since left. Up-to-date details make sure clients reach the right office, and that the firm appears for the practice areas it actually wants to grow.

Standards the directory follows

Profiles are factual and avoid marketing language. Attorneys are not described as specialists, in line with Legal Practice Council rules on advertising. Personal cellphone numbers of individual attorneys are not published unless the firm presents them as the firm's line. The full method is published on the how we research page.

How to update a listing

Firms can submit changes through the list or claim your firm page. Firms that are not yet listed can use the same page to be added. There is no charge.
