Members of the media are invited to attend a commemoration event marking 1,000 days since the beginning of the Russia/Ukraine conflict. The UA Bring Kids Back Task Force will host a Multi-religious Prayer Service at the Union Buildings in Pretoria on Wednesday, 20 November 2024. This gathering will advocate for the South African government to leverage its influence to promote children's rights internationally, with a focus on the forced deportation of Ukrainian children by Russia, as well as crises impacting children in Africa and Gaza.
Event Details
The service will feature remarks from Liubov Abravitova, Ambassador of Ukraine to South Africa, and Dzvinka Kachur, co-founder and honorary president of the Ukrainian Association of South Africa (UAZA). They will discuss the significance of this day and the severe impact of the forced deportations on Ukraine. The prayer service will symbolically take place on the lawns of the Union Buildings, a fitting location given the event's focus on human rights and advocacy.
