More Than a Conference - Where Data Privacy Professionals Connect
The right conversation can be just as valuable as the right presentation.
Join us at the 2nd Annual Data Privacy & Protection Conference (DPPC27), where the experience extends beyond the sessions and presentations. The conference brings together a community of professionals, decision-makers and industry experts who are actively shaping the future of data privacy and protection.
Taking place on 27–28 January 2027 at the Indaba Hotel, Fourways, South Africa, DPPC27 will be hosted as a hybrid conference, giving delegates the flexibility to participate either in person or virtually via livestream. Whether attending at the venue or joining remotely, delegates will have the opportunity to engage with industry discussions, gain valuable insights, and connect with professionals across the data privacy and protection landscape.
With increasing regulatory expectations, evolving technologies, and growing concerns around data governance, connecting with people who understand these challenges has never been more important.
DPPC27 offers an opportunity to exchange industry perspectives, learn how other organisations are navigating regulatory and compliance challenges, explore potential collaborations and build meaningful relationships with fellow privacy, legal, risk and compliance professionals.
Opening Day Two, the keynote panel will bring diverse industry perspectives to the discussion on AI-assisted policy and decision-making, exploring the implications for governance, accountability, human oversight and responsible AI adoption.
The discussion will be moderated by Nadine Mather, Partner: Data Protection & Employment Law at Bowmans Law, alongside panellists Rachel Magege, Data Privacy Counsel at Challenge Law Firm; Pieter Steyn, Chief Information and Technology Officer at Luxaviation Group; Nkosikhona Nkosi, Chief Information Officer at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA); and Nkanyiso Ngqulunga, Senior Legal Researcher & Advocacy Expert at Campaign for Free Expression.
As AI increasingly contributes to drafting policies, influencing decisions and shaping governance processes, important questions arise around human oversight, accountability, transparency and the protection of fundamental rights.
Through diverse industry perspectives and an engaging discussion, panellists will explore the legal, ethical, human rights and regulatory implications of AI-assisted policy and decision-making, including who ultimately takes responsibility when AI influences the rules that govern us.
This is an opportunity for delegates to engage with critical questions, challenge perspectives and gain insights into the governance frameworks needed to ensure responsible AI adoption.
