A new online news portal for Underberg, South Africa has just gone live online. This resource web site is far from being finished at the time of writing this article, but as with any serious endeavour, this will practically be the case for the rest of the Underberg Diary's existence – a good site is never finished. Based on the old fashioned principles of putting carts in front of horses, this project must now run.
Nudweb, a small Online marketing, and web presence company in Underberg intends for this Underberg 'guide' of sorts, to be an interactive resource not only for visitors to Underberg and the Sani Pass, but also for the local residents that stay here in the Southern Drakensberg. The result will be for this beautiful small town to get more online exposure, and consequently draw more visitors, thereby improving the chances for all peoples of Underberg, Himeville, and the Sani Pass to prosper.
Underberg, being a surprisingly busy for a little mountain town, has simply too much happening at any one stage for only one person to try follow events, and a small team is therefore being assembled. A great blessing is also the inclusion of Paul Welch, Editor of the Mountain Echo, the local printed news paper. His experience close to 30 years of running the local newspaper makes Paul one of the most valuable assets to the community. Not only for the stories that he can recount, but also in recognising his role in the community as custodian of history, and goodwill all round.
It's the hope of myself, and the team, that a reader will be able to find recourse in this web site, and that the experience is a pleasant one for all.
