Uber has moved over half a million people across SA
Submitted by: MyPressportal TeamAs of February 2016, Uber has moved over half a million of you across South Africa. Between 2013 and 2016, Uber has travelled approximately 93 000 000kms. That’s almost the exact distance to make 121 trips to the moon – and back
As Uber’s trips have expanded, so have their options.
From uberBLACK to uberX, they have become synonymous with a seamless, yet stylish experience. Add uberXL, uberCHOPPER and uberFAMILY to the mix, and you have different car types for the different needs of a truly diverse country.
The longest Uber trip took place from Johannesburg to Durban and lasted approximately six hours over a distance of 580km.
Meanwhile, The average estimated time of arrival in South Africa is four minutes. That’s equivalent to the time it takes to complete 200 sit-ups, take 64 breaths or show off your best Macarena moves.
In 2013, Uber launched in Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town. Fast forward to 2016, and they are in a total of five cities in South Africa. What lies ahead? #UberEverywhere
Places, people and experiences are what truly drives Uber. Since their launch in 2013, they have given you the chance to ride in the Volkswagen Up with some of your favourite SA celebrities, and brought you beach packs on demand with uberSUMMER. And, let’s not forget everyone’s favourite icy treat, uberICECREAM – in 2015, Uber delivered over a 100 litres of ice cream across the country.
Since 2013, Uber has enabled over 4000 employment opportunities across the country. The drivers who pick you up after those late nights out on the town, the ones who drive you to that first date, and the ones who ensure that you’re never late for that afternoon business meeting? These are the real uberHEROES.
Together, Uber is helping to drive South Africa forward through access to a safe and reliable transportation option, which is available to anyone, anywhere and at anytime. Here’s to another year of making the country a better connected and more economically vibrant place to live in.
