SCTIE celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Southern Explorer route map
Submitted by: Olivia Jones communications
This year marks an important milestone for the KZN South Coast’s tourism sector with the popular route map, the Southern Explorer, celebrating its 25th edition.
“We’d like to extend our congratulations to the Southern Explorer team on this impressive milestone and we are looking forward to further promoting the KZN South Coast’s tourism offerings together,” commented Phelisa Mangcu, CEO of South Coast Tourism & Investment Enterprise (SCTIE). “The region is home to so many incredible assets, from the highest number of Blue Flag Beaches in the province and two-world class dive sites, to being positioned as The Golf Coast. Through our collective efforts, we will continue to drive tourism to the beautiful KZN South Coast.”
The Southern Explorer Association is excited to be launching its Collectible 25th Silver Jubilee print edition that will for the first time combine print, digital, online and smartphone-enabled formats. This, coupled with a web presence that will offer an immersive exploration of the diverse offerings, natural beauty and cultural heritage of the district in a new and current format through its new service provider, Mindful Media. The publication will be produced by the end of April 2024 in time for Africa’s Travel Indaba. Working alongside SCTIE, the Southern Explorer will showcase the region’s incredible tourism potential.
The Southern Explorer Association has, for over two decades, published the Southern Explorer magazine, a route-based publication that has been the trusted companion for travellers exploring 9 specific tours in the district. Now recognised as one of the country’s leading route guides, the Southern Explorer is endorsed and supported by both SCTIE, Tourism KwaZulu-Natal and the KwaZulu-Natal Roads Department. The membership advertising options have been restructured to be more inclusive to support local product owners in trying times with lots of added value for both local businesses and visitors.
In addition to this special Jubilee edition, the Southern Explorer Association has a number of exciting plans on the cards. These relate to digital expansion with measurable feedback and a fresh and functional website offering members added value for enhanced business exposure, alongside the beautiful sustainably resourced print publication.
The Southern Explorer Association believes in collaboration to develop and uplift the region with various local and regional entities, including municipal, tourism and civic organisations. Should anyone be interested in joining the Southern Explorer Association or obtaining more information about the Southern Explorer Association they are encouraged to contact the secretary by emailing secretarySEA@gmail.com.
