Access to the new web page is made through the quick links box on the qatarairways.com homepage. Included in the Corporate Travel section is brief information and links to Qatar Airways’ loyalty programme Privilege Club, as well as the recently introduced Qbiz programme, which allows small and medium-sized companies and their employees to jointly earn air miles from their flights. Passengers can access the online check-in facility, select their preferred seat, and have their boarding pass sent to them by email or mobile phone, and even book hotel rooms through the qatarairways.com website, thus making their travel from South Africa to any of the 84 destinations serviced by Qatar Airways an absolute breeze.
The carrier currently flies daily from Johannesburg and four times weekly from Cape Town, to its hub in Doha. Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said that the airline had made strategic developments to its online features over the past 12 – 18 months to better serve its corporate travel client base and to attract new clientele to the award-winning airline. “The airline recognises the need to provide its customers with the latest technology and quality services to assist with their travel requirements. This is true for all aspects of our business, from the in-flight entertainment system through to innovations such as online check-in and mobile phone boarding passes,” said Al Baker.
“Qatar Airways places significant importance on its corporate accounts, and the new section on the website allows for easy access to the services they need, such as the recently introduced Qbiz programme.” The airline was recently voted Airline Of The Year 2009 at the annual Travel Trade Gazette (TTG) Awards in London, the premier UK travel industry awards ceremony and also won Best Middle Eastern Airline at the Asia Pacific TTG Awards, an honour that the Doha-based carrier has held now for four consecutive years.
Qatar Airways currently operates a modern fleet of 71 aircraft to 84 business and leisure destinations across Europe, Middle East, Africa, South Asia, Far East and North America. Beginning 6 December, Qatar Airways will launch flights to Australia with non-stop direct services to Melbourne. The new route will offer passengers one of the quickest travel options between London and Melbourne. Direct non-stop services to Sydney are schedule to begin operating in early 2010.
