Many say it cannot be done. Others say it can but at what risk. Using Public transport in general is not great in South Africa. One inspiring entrepreneur is taking the bull by the horns and relying on Public Transport in Cape Town to run and grow his IT distribution company.

Cape Town does have public transport and it does have plenty of it but much of the negativity comes from people who have never used public transport or see it as a second class form of transport. Running a business relying on public transport at first glance may seem perilous but its actually very safe. The perception of security and reliabilty is actually wrong.
There are pockets of insecurity in every society, South Africa is no different. What needs to change is the attitude of people towards using public transport and also their approach transport in general. With 2010 only a matter of a few months away Public Transport will form a major part of the whole event. However, unlike the stadiums that can so easily become white elephants the Public Transport will not.
It will be improved for 2010 but with more people using now it can be improved further and sooner and to a much higher standard. "Running a business using public transport and highlighted many shortcomings" states Newnham "many of the short comings are due to either a lack of funding or a lack of customers, and of course customers create income and income creates funding".
The catch 22 situation of public transport can be addressed and it needs to be addressed 2010 or no 2010. It's been a challenging few weeks but successful. Running a business using public transport can be done - Just! But it can be done.
