SAB Sports Journalist of the year awards anounced
Written by: SAFM Save to Instapaper [Pressportal.co.za] SAfm sports producer Helen Mittwoch was adjudged the overall winner in the radio category of the annual SAB Sports Journalists of the Year Awards. The judges said that her understanding of her audience was evident in the wide variety of programme content featured on SAfm’s Saturday Sports Special and the programme itself got the award for Programme of the Year.
But that wasn't all, as Gameplan's Kass Naidoo was once again an award winner for the subcategory of Sports Presenter of the Year. The awards were made at a gala banquet at The Sandton Convention Centre on the evening of 11 May 2006. Along with a coveted title, the three main category winners each took home R12 500, while subcategory winners received a R2 500 cash prize. This year the competition attracted 222 entries across the four main categories (and nine sub-categories) from journalists covering the dynamic, exhilarating, controversial and often emotive world of sport. Once again entries from print and internet journalists predominated.
