Hytera Communications, a global leader in professional communications technologies and solutions, recently showcased its latest innovations in intrinsically safe (IS) communication devices, including smartphones and two-way radios, at the Africa Tech Festival, which was held from 13 to 16 November in Cape Town. In addition to these new product releases, Hytera presented its comprehensive range of mission and business-critical communications solutions, aimed at enhancing the safety and efficiency of industrial and government users in Southern African countries and beyond.
With over three decades of experience in IS electronics development, Hytera's latest devices are equipped with robust IS circuits, explosion-proof batteries, anti-static technology, and dual antimagnetic mechanisms. These features are designed to minimize the potential risk of explosion due to overheating or electronic sparks, reflecting Hytera's unwavering commitment to improving workplace safety without compromising performance. Key products introduced include the PNC460U IS Smart Device, HP79XEx IS DMR Portable Two-way Radio, and PT890Ex IS TETRA Portable Radio.
The PNC460U, a UL913-certified explosion-proof ruggedized smartphone, is tailored for industrial applications, particularly at sites with explosive gas and combustible dust. Featuring a physical push-to-talk (PTT) key, this device integrates smartphone and Push-to-talk over Cellular (PoC) radio functionalities, offering users an intuitive way to initiate group calls.
Enhancing Hytera’s Professional Mobile Radio (PMR) portfolio are the PT890Ex and HP79XEx. The PT890Ex, a TETRA portable radio, and the HP79XEx, a DMR variant, are both IECEx certified. These radios are built with advanced explosion-proof materials, capable of withstanding extreme temperatures from -25°C to 60°C (-13°F to 140°F) in hazardous environments. They also feature innovative silicone encapsulation technology to protect against liquid and flammable dust intrusion. The incorporation of multiple circuit protection mechanisms further ensures safety, even with a high audio output power of 2 watts.
Mark Zheng, Director of Hytera Southern Africa, emphasized that these new devices position Hytera as the only vendor offering IS devices across three communications protocols: DMR, TETRA, and PoC. "Hytera’s innovative devices are set to significantly enhance safety and connectivity in industrial settings such as oil refineries, pipelines, chemical plants, and mining sites," Zheng stated.
The introduction of these products in the South African market is a key part of Hytera’s global expansion plan and its commitment to the Southern African region, highlighted by the company's recent move of its Southern African headquarters to Maxwell Office Park in Johannesburg.
Visitors to Hytera’s booth, E60, at the Africa Tech Festival had the opportunity to explore the company's extensive portfolio of communications solutions, including body cameras, unified communications, and integrated command and control systems.
“We are thrilled to have brought our cutting-edge technological innovations to the Southern African market. With 20 years of experience in the region, we are proud to offer solutions that not only enhance workplace safety and efficiency but also contribute to the region's economic growth,” concluded Zheng.
