MetroFibre brings festive cheer to Ivory Park children’s homes through Christmas gift initiative

Members of the MetroFibre team visited two children’s homes in Ivory Park, Midrand - Bathebeleng and Tumelo House - to deliver Christmas gifts as part of the company’s community outreach initiatives focused on areas in which it operates.
Between the two homes, 67 children - from toddlers as young as one to teenagers - received gift boxes tailored to their ages and needs. Each gift contained a mix of practical essentials and small treats, including snacks, clothing, toothpaste, soap, toys, and educational tools such as calculators.
The visits were marked by a warm welcome from both homes. The MetroFibre team had the privilege of hearing more about the histories and day-to-day work of the two organisations, and were deeply moved when the children sang for the team. The spirit of the day was grounded in connection and appreciation, and in acknowledging the ongoing, caring work these homes do for children in Ivory Park.
“Our aim was simple: to show up with care, dignity and respect, and to contribute in a small but meaningful way to the wonderful work being done by Bathebeleng and Tumelo House,” said Liza Kok, Chief Marketing Officer at MetroFibre. “We’re grateful for the opportunity to spend time with the children and caregivers, to listen and learn, and to support the community we’re part of.”
This MetroFibre initiative focuses on providing age-appropriate essentials and moments of joy to children in communities the company serves and operates in. This year’s activity reflects an ongoing commitment to practical, community-led support - and appreciation for the people and organisations who dedicate themselves to children’s wellbeing all year round.
“We extend our thanks to the teams at Bathebeleng and Tumelo House for their warm hospitality and for trusting us with their stories,” added Liza. “The children’s songs were a highlight of our year.”
