This strategic appointment underscores SSAF’s commitment to fostering safer communities and building strong partnerships for crime prevention and social upliftment across South Africa, says SSAF.
SSAF Chief Executive Officer and former SAPS National Commissioner, retired General Riah Phiyega, says, "We are honoured to welcome Major General Manci to our team. His wealth of experience, dedication to public service and passion for creating safer communities is perfectly aligned with our mission," says General (retired) Phiyega.
With a distinguished career spanning decades in law enforcement, Major General Manci has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep understanding of community safety dynamics. His tenure as Deputy Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in the Western Cape left an indelible mark on public safety initiatives, earning him widespread respect and admiration from colleagues and communities alike, says the foundation.
In his new role as Provincial Coordinator, Major General Manci will lead SSAF's efforts to engage with communities, empower youth through awareness programmes and strengthen collaboration between communities, civil society, law enforcement and other stakeholders, adds the foundation.
Major General Manci will also continue the legacy of the late Nomonde Scott, who spearheaded SSAF's flagship youth crime prevention and experiential learning initiative and the Communities and Justice Programme (CJP) in the Western Cape. Since its inception in January 2019, the CJP has reached over 5 000 learners in the province. Each participating school appointed dedicated teachers to oversee and coordinate the programme ensuring its successful implementation, says SSAF.
"With Major General Manci leading provincial coordination, SSAF is poised to continue building safer, thriving communities by addressing the root causes of crime. True safety is founded on hope, opportunity, and unity and Manci’s inspiring leadership promises lasting positive change," retired General Phiyega concludes.
