Lagos Airport to Receive Comprehensive Revamp Including Terminals Runway and Access Infrastructure

Murtala Muhammed International Airport will undergo a major renovation, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has announced.

The renovations, including upgrades to the terminal buildings, the main runway, access roads and bridges, will span 22 months and cost about N712 billion (R828 million).

According to Keyamo, Terminal 1 will be rebuilt to meet international standards and cater for increased traffic, temporarily affecting Wing E and Wing D. Terminal 2’s building and apron will be expanded to accommodate more passengers and wide-body aircraft.

The plan also includes the construction of two new independent ring roads leading in and out of the airport, one for departures and one for arrivals, and a bridge that will take arriving travellers directly to the upper floor of Terminal 2’s departure lounge.
