Inma World Congress OF News Media Set For May 2026 In Berlin
Written by: Media Update Editor Save to Instapaper
The INMA World Congress is the news industry's premier annual event dedicated to the business of media and journalism. Across two days of conference, two days of study tours and one day of seminars, the INMA says it spotlights how to grow audience, brand and revenue through the inspiration of members and the storytelling of the association's unique voices.
The INMA says more than 600 professionals from the top news media companies in 50+ countries are expected to attend the INMA Berlin Congress, including C-Suite executives from Africa, Asia / Pacific, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and North America.
According to the INMA, venues selected for INMA Berlin include:
- Axica for the media conference, located next to the Brandenburg Gate
- Museum Island Colonnades & Neues Museum for the Congress's welcome reception
- a Spree River evening boat tour will highlight the city's contrasts: historic façades and bold architecture
- Tipi am Kanzleramt for the Global Media Awards Dinner, with a 1920s flair, and
- Hotel Adlon Kempinski, located next to Axica, will host week-ending seminars.
With the theme of 'From Walls to Bridges: News Media Reimagined,' the INMA says that the programme aims to help news publishers navigate uncertainty across four forces reshaping news:
- Reinvention: The business of news under pressure — and full of possibility.
- Collision: Tech, trust and transformation crashing into the newsroom.
- Unification: Breaking silos and building bridges across editorial, product, tech and commercial.
- Mobilisation: Turning strategy into action with talent, tools and mindset for what's next.
The INMA says that in addition to the conference, the week includes:
Berlin Study Tours
With 4 500+ tech startups and a thriving creative economy, Berlin is a hub for media innovation, AI and digital experimentation. The INMA will visit up to 16 news media companies across two study tours, giving participants a peek behind the scenes of some of the biggest brands in news media.
Seminars
End-of-week half-day seminars will go deep into INMA specialities, including digital subscriptions, generative AI, product and tech, advertising and commerce and newsroom transformation.
Welcome Reception at UNESCO World Heritage Museum
The Museum Island Colonnades & Neues Museum opening reception will provide INMA delegates access to this historic UNESCO World Heritage site in the heart of Berlin.
Awards Dinner at Tipi am Kanzleramt
The Global Media Awards Dinner at the Tipi am Kanzleramt will not only reveal 2026 INMA honourees but will offer a unique blend of charm, history and modernity, reflecting Berlin's spirit of rebellion.
Ask Me Anything Sessions
Meanwhile, the INMA will continue making its subject matter experts available to corporate members attending the Berlin event in 'Ask Me Anything' private sessions.
"Berlin is the perfect backdrop for INMA's 2026 World Congress Week because of its history as a city of reinvention and its status as a stronghold for press freedom," concludes Earl J Wilkinson, Executive Director and CEO of INMA. "We'll meet at the heart of a city that symbolises transformation, openness and change, where we will aim to find unique insights, innovations and inspiration for attendees."
As part of its announcement, the INMA has opened its Berlin 2026 website.
