Shell opens applications for 2026 LiveWire enterprise development programme for South African entrepreneurs (closes 9 Sept 2026)

The programme is structured to support businesses at different stages of development, with tailored assistance for entrepreneurs starting out as well as established businesses already generating revenue.

Support for businesses starting out

Businesses with annual revenue of between R0 and R1m will receive support focused on establishing and strengthening their foundations.

This includes assistance with business setup and compliance, a personalised growth roadmap and one-on-one coaching with experienced entrepreneurs and Business Growth Experts.

Support for established SMEs

For businesses generating between R1m and R50m in annual revenue, the programme takes a more advanced approach.

Support includes an assessment of business systems and financials, strategy sessions aligned to the company's growth stage, market access and deal-closing support, as well as assistance with funding readiness.

Focus on practical business development

The programme is powered by Grow Impact's Growth Formula and supported by more than 30 strategic partners. Shell says participant progress will be tracked quarterly to measure the impact of the programme and its support.

According to SDSA transformation manager Sebastian Preston, the programme is intended to address some of the practical challenges faced by entrepreneurs beyond access to finance.

“Real transformation is about more than funding; it’s about giving entrepreneurs the right support, structure, plus access to markets to build sustainable businesses,” said Preston.

The programme combines business development support with coaching and market access, with the aim of helping participating businesses strengthen their systems and develop clearer growth strategies.

For newer businesses, this includes establishing the structures required to operate and grow, while more established businesses can use the programme to identify weaknesses in their systems and financial management and prepare for potential investment.

Applications close in September

The programme is open to South African entrepreneurs who fall within the relevant revenue categories.
