Sun International Reveals Sun City’s Vibrant Revamp Inspired By The Energy And Style Of Las Vegas

Sun International’s Sun City Hotel is finalising its renovations and preparing to show off its ‘Vegas-esque’ facelift in time for the 2025 Nedbank Golf Challenge in November and the busy December holiday season.
On September 25, in a Miami Heat-themed celebration in its revamped pool area, the hotel marked the occasion alongside its guests, suppliers, local government, entertainers and the media.
The pool now wraps around a dedicated DJ island, while the deck also features a circular cocktail bar and a selection of couches, lounge chairs and private cabanas with luxury daybeds.
Further upgrades include a refurbished porte cochère, the redesign of 350 hotel rooms and a transformation of the Sun Terrace restaurant.
The rooms, which will be completed by November, now feature new contemporary bathrooms, coffee bars, king-size beds, and décor in soft neutrals, shades of turquoise and gold.
The Sun Terrace, which offers a panoramic view of the new pool area and the surrounding landscape, saw the installation of retractable glass doors and two interactive cooking theatres, where guests can talk to the restaurant’s professional chefs and watch as their meals are prepared.
Additionally, the lifts and the smoking casino entrance are being enhanced.
“From the day that Sun City Hotel first opened its doors, South Africans have streamed through them, all caught up in the magic and the dream that Sun City offered. We promised the glamour of Vegas, balanced by world-class family leisure and entertainment facilities. But at 46 years, our hotel was looking tired, so we knew we had to restore the hotel to its former glory. There was nothing like it back then, and after the refurbishment we know that guests will agree there is nothing like it now,” said Brett Hoppe, Sun City GM.
