Written by: TNW Save to Instapaper
Maloba Private Game Reserve opened near Kimberley on December 1, introducing a new luxury lodge set within 20 000 hectares of wilderness. The privately owned reserve, founded by the Perridon Family, will accommodate a maximum of 10 guests across five suites. The property is 30 minutes from Kimberley Airport by road and 15 minutes by helicopter.
The four Maloba suites each feature a private plunge pool, indoor and outdoor showers, a fireplace and bush-facing decks. The Diamond Suite includes an expanded pool, a private firepit, panoramic views of the Didimala thornveld and a private safari vehicle.
The reserve offers twice-daily game drives and sightings of white and black rhino, cheetah, buffalo and nocturnal species such as aardvark, aardwolf and brown hyena. Lions will be reintroduced in March 2026. Additional activities include helicopter safaris, horseback riding, a private shooting range and an active diamond mine visit by helicopter.
Dining at the lodge features South African ingredients with international influences, supported by a cellar of more than 500 South African and international wines.
Maloba’s conservation work is driven by the Maloba Foundation, which focuses on land restoration, wildlife protection, community wellbeing and education. Conservation initiatives include removing invasive species, rebuilding indigenous ecosystems, anti-poaching support, staff welfare programmes and local development.
Wellness and spa facilities are scheduled to open in 2026.
