Tracy Mkhize appointed managing director of Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company, to assume role on 1 October 2026

Mkhize will take up the role on 1 October 2026. She has been chief operating officer at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) since 2023, having acted in the position from 2021. She previously served as the centre's general manager of Operations, Food and Beverage.

She has also chaired the Cape Town Tourism Board since 2023, having succeeded Parker in that role.

Mkhize's appointment follows a selection process conducted by the TMACC Board.

Mkhize's tourism and hospitality experience

Mkhize moved to Cape Town in 2016 and has since built her career across tourism, hospitality and the business-events sector.

She began her career in forestry research, breeding trees for the South African Forestry Company, before moving into hospitality and gaming at Peermont Global. Over more than a decade with the group, she progressed from assistant cashiering manager to general manager.

She later moved into the convention and business-events sector, joining the CTICC, where she has held senior operational roles.

Mkhize holds an Executive MBA and a bachelor's degree from the University of the Witwatersrand. She also holds a certificate in Convention Centre Management from the AIPC Academy in Brussels and completed the Management Advancement Programme at Wits Business School.

Her experience spans operations, governance, risk management and sustainability.

At the CTICC, she led the food and beverage division through the Covid-19 pandemic, when the centre's catering operation and food-safety certification were repurposed to supply a temporary field hospital.

Parker to remain during transition

Parker will remain involved during the transition to Mkhize.

“Leadership is not about holding on; it is about knowing when to entrust what the team have built to someone who is ready to take it forward. Tracy will inherit the knowledge, team, relationships and responsibility that define this company, but the future will be hers to shape.

"My responsibility is to make that transition seamless for the benefit of the industry, staff, our partners, and the millions of visitors who come to experience this iconic New 7Wonders of Nature site,” says Parker.

Mkhize said her move from forestry into a role within a national park represented a full-circle moment in her career.

“I started my career breeding trees for a forestry company, so moving into a role within a national park feels like a full-circle moment for me. My high school’s motto was 'shine where you are', which resonates with me to show up with excellence, purpose, and courage to illuminate the path for others and leave every place better than I found it. I cannot think of a more fitting place to live that out than on this mountain,” says Mkhize.
