SAA and Turkish Airlines formalised a codeshare agreement on December 5, offering South Africans seamless access to destinations in Europe.
Under the new agreement, SAA will place its flight code on Turkish Airlines-operated flights from Istanbul to Frankfurt, Paris and London. These ticket sales will commence on March 1, 2026.
Turkish Airlines will place its flight code on SAA-operated flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town to Durban, Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), Windhoek, Harare, Victoria Falls and Mauritius.
As part of the codeshare, both airlines will explore opportunities to expand their networks through strategic route opportunities.
“SAA welcomes this codeshare partnership as a strategic step in expanding safe, reliable and competitive air services for our customers. Turkish Airlines is a respected global carrier, and this collaboration reflects our shared commitment to strengthening connectivity between Africa and Türkiye. Partnerships of this nature play an important role in supporting tourism, trade, and sustainable economic development,” said SAA Group CEO, John Lamola.
