Little Maru Elevates Exclusive-Use Safari Travel With Personalised Adventures In The Okavango Delta
Written by: TNW Save to Instapaper
In a world where the word “exclusive” is used to describe accommodation establishments as often as the Springbok scrum destroys opponents, we invite you to learn about Camp Maru, a three-tent, six-bed offering in the Okavango Delta.
Guests at Little Maru enjoy true exclusivity by virtue of the fact that the camp can be booked exclusively making it an ideal product for rock stars wanting privacy, small groups, as well as families with children. The benefits of your clients booking an exclusive-use camp like Little Maru can be summed up in one word – flexibility.
- Guests can choose when to go on game drives as they have the vehicle and guide at their disposal.
- Meals can be tailored according to what the guests want, and mealtimes are flexible too.
Better writers than us have tried, and failed, to describe the magic of the Okavango Delta, and to do justice to how special a place this is, so we are unlikely to succeed but we will try….
The Okavango Delta is one of the world’s true wilderness areas, so the owners took special care with the design and build of Little Maru to create a camp that blends in with the Delta. As custodians of this special piece of the Delta, Little Maru is the opposite of a modern trend that has been creeping into the safari industry where architects and decorators hold sway and nature is secondary. Guests at Little Maru really do feel at one with nature and, whilst the camp has all the amenities that a discerning guest would expect, it boats a refreshing absence of opulence and pretentiousness.
Maru is a “wet and dry” camp, with game drives and mokoro activities taking place throughout the year.
Access to Little Maru is via an 18-minute helicopter transfer from Maun or a two-hour road transfer.
Rack rates for 2026 range from $600 to $1,200 per person per night, depending on the season. A 2026 offer is that Little Maru can be booked with a minimum of four pax. So, the rock star can pay for four, even though they are just two people, and have the camp exclusively. Likewise, a family of four can have exclusive use, even though they are not a family of six.
