Sidssa 2026 - Ramaphosa convenes investors, ministers and mayors to mobilise water, energy and transport funding for municipal infrastructure

Under the theme “Shaping the future of municipal infrastructure”, the three-day event will focus on strengthening government’s capacity to deliver future-ready, resilient and sustainable infrastructure. The symposium will also provide a platform to advance South Africa’s infrastructure investment pipeline, address systemic delivery challenges and explore opportunities for collaboration across the public and private sectors.

With municipal infrastructure under growing pressure, Sidssa 2026 - convened by President Cyril Ramaphosa - aims to position investment and innovation at the heart of sustainable local development.

As the annual flagship event organised by the Investment and Infrastructure Office (IIO) within The Presidency, it will see Ministers, large asset owners, leading private investors, fund managers, developers, technology innovators, key advisors and others gathering under one roof.

The symposium kicked off this morning with a site visit to the Cape Flats Recharge Project conducted by Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson joined by Ministers and Mayors from the continent.

The Cape Flats Aquifer Recharge Project is an award-winning municipal water project.

Following the site visit, Macpherson and head of Infrastructure South Africa Mameetse Masemola gave feedback on the progress of Strategic Integrated Projects, Status of the Project Preparation Pipeline and important milestones of the Adopt-A-Municipality pilot programme.

Expanding infrastructure investment

Since its inception in 2020, the symposium has played a pivotal role in strengthening the national infrastructure pipeline, mobilising funding and addressing systemic delivery challenges.

Sidssa 2026 will showcase progress across Strategic Integrated Projects, Project Preparation Funding initiatives and the Infrastructure Fund pipeline, while advancing international partnerships and expanding investment opportunities across key sectors including energy, water and sanitation, transport and logistics, digital infrastructure, agriculture and human settlements.

The 2026 edition will further emphasise the continued support of Infrastructure South Africa (ISA) to provinces and municipalities, reinforcing infrastructure as a driver of sustainable economic growth.
