Creative Coffee Week Brings Industry Experts Together To Celebrate Coffee Culture In Durban

Each event will have a different focus and the focus of this first one is around production and all that goes into growing coffee. The first day is hosted by FNB, partners of this event since its inception, where we dive deep into farming and flavour, says Creative Coffee Week.
For lovers of coffee, this event is a chance to level up their understanding of coffee — where it comes from, the flavour profiles and language used to describe it, the processing methods and what they mean in the mug. They will get the chance to interact with six globally respected coffee professionals as well as South Africa’s coffee champions and influencers all in one day. They will come away from Creative Coffee Week inspired and informed, says the event.
The event invites potential coffee shop owners and enthusiasts and baristas alike.
Winners from Cup of Excellence, an international program that rewards farmers at origin, will be present at the event, as well as Head Judge, Stephen Vick and award-winning Kenyan farmer, David Maguta, who works with coffee champions around the world. Attendees will be given the opportunity to get to know Colombia through its marketing strategy. Attendees will meet Mikael Jasin, the reigning 2024 to 2025 World Barista Champion and Georgius 'Odi' Teja, the recently crowned World Coffee in Good Spirits Champion 2025, adds the event.
The event is hosted open to the public, with a Latte Art Sundowner Throwdown in Umhlanga and a coffee party at Humble Coffee, alongside a Café Colombia pop-up and public cuppings. There is also a Mini Origin Tour in which any coffee enthusiast can see the coffee farming community on the KZN South Coast, says the event.
This is an opportunity for coffee enthusiasts to engage directly with global coffee icons, witness world-class coffee techniques and capture stories that span innovation, entrepreneurship, sustainability and the global culture of coffee — all unfolding in a local setting, says the event.
