SACAA Certification Paves Way For Embraer E2 Aircraft Deliveries Strengthening Airlink’s SA Operations

The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) has issued Type Acceptance Certification to Embraer for its E190-E2s and E195-E2s, paving the way for deliveries of the aircraft and their entry into service with Airlink.

In June, Airlink announced plans to lease 10 new Embraer E195-E2 twin-engine passenger aircraft from Azorra, as reported by Travel News. Airlink recently finalised the lease agreement.

The first deliveries are expected later this year, with the full fleet arriving by 2027. The aircraft will seat up to 136 passengers in a two-two configuration.

“South Africa’s type acceptance of the latest generation Embraer E195-E2 and its Pratt & Whitney engines by the SACAA are important milestones as we prepare to receive and take them into service,” said Airlink CEO, de Villiers Engelbrecht.

“The E2’s additional capacity and range will let Airlink respond to increased demand on some of our most popular routes and extend our destination network so that we can provide convenient connections for customers in new markets."

E190-E2 and E195-E2s are fuel-efficient, single-aisle aircraft, delivering 17,3% and 29% better fuel efficiency per seat respectively, compared with previous generation E-Jets.
