Wilderness Rwanda Announces New Luxury Safari Lodge In Akagera National Park For September 2025 Launch

Wilderness Rwanda has announced plans to open a second luxury safari lodge, Wilderness Magashi Peninsula, in Akagera National Park in September 2025.
Located on a private concession in the eastern region of Akagera, the camp will overlook Lake Rwanyakazinga with views extending towards the Mutumba Hills.
The site lies within Central Africa’s largest protected wetland and Rwanda’s only savannah-based wildlife reserve.
The camp will comprise a four-bed villa and two additional twin suites spaced 200 metres apart for added privacy. The villa includes an adaptable en-suite room that may serve as a gym, office or children’s room.
Each unit will feature a private plunge pool and elevated views of the surrounding wilderness. Activities will include boat-based excursions, guided night drives, catch-and-release fishing and a rooftop star-bed experience.
Guests will also have access to private dining and wellness treatments. Interior design will reflect locally inspired aesthetics and the lodge will be powered by solar energy.
Wilderness Magashi Peninsula is being developed in collaboration with Akagera Management Company, a partnership between the Rwanda Development Board and African Parks. Conservation support initiatives will include predator monitoring, invasive species management and youth education programmes.
As part of its employment strategy, the camp will engage neighbouring community members in construction and operations.
This new camp joins Wilderness Magashi, also located in Akagera National Park, and the opening follows the recent launch of Wilderness Bisate Reserve near Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda.
