Southern Sun Commits to Clean Energy With Landmark 10-Year Deal Covering Seven Hotel Properties
Written by: TNW Save to InstapaperSouthern Sun has signed a 10-year power purchase agreement with Discovery Green to provide more than 90% of Southern Sun’s power needs across seven properties with clean energy from Discovery Green’s renewables portfolio.
The properties listed under the agreement include Southern Sun’s Arabella Hotel, Golf and Spa as well as the Drakensberg Sun Resort, Garden Court Morningside, Southern Sun Katherine Street, Southern Sun Sandton, Champagne Sports Resort and Sabi River Sun Resort.
Speaking on the agreement, Marcel von Aulock, CEO of Southern Sun, added: “Partnering with Discovery Green is an important step in our sustainability programme. Securing cost-effective renewable energy for our flagship properties not only reduces our carbon footprint but also assures guests that their stay supports South Africa’s transition to a cleaner energy future. This agreement reinforces our long-term commitment to responsible growth while ensuring energy stability for our operations.”
