5FM says that in partnership with Rise Against Hunger Africa, the drive starts on Thursday, 12 June, at the SABC Auckland Park foyer, running from 10:00 to 16:00.
5FM invites businesses investing time in empowering projects, listeners wanting to make a difference and public figures ready to lend their platform to purpose to take part in the initiative.
The mission of the initiative is to tackle food insecurity, says the radio station.
"In a country as vibrant and resourceful as ours, no child should go hungry. The '5FM Lunchbox Drive' is about more than meals — it's about momentum. When the youth rise, the nation shifts into a higher gear," says Masi Mdingane, Business Manager for 5FM and Good Hope FM. "This campaign is a call to action, a chance to put purpose into practice. We're proud to partner with Rise Against Hunger Africa, and we invite South Africans from all walks of life to pack, share and show up."
As part of 5FM's Youth Month campaign, this event reflects the station's commitment to community upliftment and positions it at the forefront of youth-led social change, says the radio station.
5FM says meals packed during the event will be delivered to under-resourced ECD schools on Tuesday, 17 June, helping to support childhood development, learning potential and nutritional security during this critical phase of life.
5FM concludes that listeners, businesses, or public figures who want to get involved need only show up at the SABC foyer on Thursday, 12 June. Participants are encouraged to tag @5FM and #5FMLunchboxDrive on social media. Brands and businesses that want to get involved can contact 5FM.
