React Training College promises to revolutionise the way aspiring skilled tradesmen are trained. It is React24’s dream to empower construction professionals to become masterful artisans in the plumbing trade, now made possible as they opened the doors to the React Training College located in Parow, Western Cape on the 22nd September 2020.
At the launch, the Director and Principle Charmaine Jampies and recently named Standard Bank Top Women of the Year Awards 2020 finalist, Celeste Margo Le Roux – CEO and co-founder at React24 shared their wisdom on the construction and built environment preparation training. The Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Patricia De Lille by means of video shared her congratulatory message and well wishes.
Other speakers also included Shawn Theunissen CEO at Property Point – the Growth Point Initiative that is dedicated to unlocking opportunities for SMEs operating in South Africa's property sector, Professor Shirley Zinn a well-known HR, transformation and leadership expert and German Mphalele the Enterprise Development Unit manager at Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB).
The college’s competency-based modular training (CBMT) system, a first for this field, allows for courses to be taken as needed. The flexible learning programme and recognition of previous skills make upskilling easier and quicker with certification taking only six months instead of three years. The College also covers the full range of skills from basic short courses to advanced skills.
As the first black women owned and CETA accredited plumbing college, React Training College is breaking barriers in more ways than one. The Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Patricia De Lille stated, in her congratulatory video message she shared:
“I am very proud to see that women are especially coming to the fore to make their mark and upskill people to be part of the country’s economy. With this college being the very first black women owned CETA accredited plumbing training college in the Western Cape, you have done the sector and Cape Town very proud. I want to wish you all well for the opening today but also for the very important work that you will be doing at this training college.
May it grow from strength to strength and provide the much-needed skills and job opportunities to thousands of beneficiaries for years to come. Thank you for taking this important step and thank you for your contribution to our country. Once again, congratulations on the opening and God speed with all the future endeavours. I thank you,” De Lille concludes.
The launch, which took place just before Heritage Day is the culmination of years of hard work and dreams for React24. Celeste Margo Le Roux CEO at React24 and co-founder of React Training College says, “I am passionate about changing the narrative within the South African built environment and construction Industry. React Training College was inspired by our mission to provide real, genuine, and sustainable life-changing opportunities for those in the plumbing trade and offer them an affordable way to master their craft.”
In her 20 years of experience in the construction industry and built industry, Celeste Margo Le Roux has learnt that education and skills development is key to success. She knows that empowering tradesmen to master their craft creates a sense of pride in their work, which ultimately leads to a higher quality project. Le Roux recently walked away with the National Top Business Award and the Western Cape Top Business Award - in the Enterprise Development Programme by Property Point.
