Europ Assistance - Charity Golf Day 13 November 2015
Written by: Save to InstapaperEurop Assistance South Africa is once again making the 2015 festive season extremely special for the vulnerable members of our society through its “Chip-In for Charity” golf day, in aid of The Cradle of Hope - a Johannesburg-based organisation that assists abused and vulnerable women and children. Ms Rouxle Van Molendorff, CEO of Europ Assistance South Africa, will host a year-end charity golf day on the 13th of November 2015 at the Houghton Golf Course, with all proceeds going to The Cradle of Hope charity organisation.
For the second consecutive year, Europ Assistance South Africa is inviting its customers and suppliers to participate in the golf day, afternoon “High Tea” and dinner-auction ceremony in the evening to cap the day’s activities. A number of handmade items from The Cradle of Hope will be on auction as part of the fund raising initiative.
“Our company takes care of people on a daily basis, be it with emergency or convenient needs. Doing the charity golf day and other activities on the day is an extension of our fibre as a business, we are taking care of those in less fortunate situations,” says Van Molendorff. Europ Assistance SA has been operating in the country since 1993, offering comprehensive assistance services to local corporates, brokers, clubs, medical aid funds and employers in providing value added services and benefits to its members.
The company provides telephonic advice, assistance and consultation services which include; Health, Travel, Emergency, Professional Consultation Cover, Labour, Education and Recoveries. The Cradle of Hope is a Ministry focusing on assisting women and children in desperate need. The organisation operates in the West Rand of Johannesburg.
Some of its projects include the Art of Hope centre, House of Restoration for abused and vulnerable women, children and teenage girls, as well as many ladies from the community coming to practice their creative skills, such as jewellery making, fabric painting, sewing and knitting and card making. These items are then sold at various coffee shops and market stalls, creating an income for the ladies, as well as the organisation. The House of Restoration is a safe-haven for abused and vulnerable women and children, as well as young teenage girls.
The ladies and young girls are mostly victims of abuse and violence, such as suffering sexual trauma and domestic violence. Melodie van Brakel, The Cradle of Hope’s CEO and Founder, says: “Europ Assistance continues to show that they have a heart for our organisation and our beneficiaries by hosting this event on our behalf. We really need the funds to continue doing what we do on a daily basis, as we receive no support from the Government at all.”
“Most of the funds that will be raised through the golf and auction will be utilised for an expansion of our House of Restoration that we are currently acquiring and renovating, next to our existing one. The new facility will enable us to house an extra 30 to 40 vulnerable women and children when it is completed,” says Van Brakel. Van Molendorff adds: “We are proud to be associated with an organisation that offers such criticals services to our community.
Women and children abuse is rife in SA and we are happy to work with our service providers and customers to chip in towards the organisation’s good work.” “We have been doing charitable work for a number of years, and we see further partnerships in this area going into the future.
This event talks to our values as a caring organisation, as our support to The Cradle of Hope in turn changes the course of hundreds of vulnerable women,” concludes Van Molendorff. The day will start with the charity golf event at 11.30am, followed by “High Tea” between 3.30pm and 6.00pm, and then an evening prize giving dinner ceremony, which will also include an auction of various items handmade by the Cradle of Hope members.
