This unique 3-day Sunshine Tour sanctioned golf tournament is held from 15-17 February 2019 at theprestigious George golf course and the Outeniqua golf course at Fancourt.
“Golf is a sport that requires immense technical skill, perseverance, commitment, calculated risk taking and competitive drive - all attributes that deeply resonate with the qualities that Aon South Africa Pty Ltd (“Aon”) stands for as an insurance brokerage and risk advisor,” explains Mandy Barrett, Head of Marketing and Sales at Aon South Africa.
“Aon is exceptionally proud to be supporting the growth and strength of the women’s professional golf circuit in South Africa and to see it compete favourably on the world stage,” adds Mandy Barrett.
In the Dimension Data challenge, amateurs are teamed with a professional lady golfer and together they compete for the Sunshine Ladies Tour Dimension Data Challenge Pro-Am trophy. They compete using the Better Ball Medal scoring system whereby the lowest stroke, by either the professional or the amateur, is recorded for each hole. The amateur handicaps are taken into account. Day 1 and 2 are played at the George Golf Course and on the third day, the top 10 better ball teams will go through to play on the Outeniqua Golf Course at Fancourt along with the professional golfers, whose scores will carry over for the final round of the Ladies Professional tournament.
The Sunshine Ladies Tour was launched to ensure the future of our playing professionals and the continued growth of golf. Today, the women’s professional golf circuit in South Africa is healthy, strong and growing and increasingly attracting foreign competitors from across the global circuit to compete alongside South Africa’s top players.
