Ross Davis Appointed as Head of Reddford House Blue Hills

Midrand, Johannesburg Reddford House Blue Hills, an Inspired School, proudly announces the appointment of Ross Davis as its new Head of Campus. With a wealth of experience in education and a commitment to fostering enriching learning environments, Ross Davis brings a unique perspective to this esteemed position.

Ross Davis joins Reddford House Blue Hills from Rainbow Schools in Gaborone, where he served as Principal. His educational journey includes notable leadership roles, such as Principal at McAuley House School in Johannesburg and Deputy Principal at Assumption Convent School, also in Johannesburg. Ross holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, underscoring his dedication to academic excellence and organisational leadership.

“We are thrilled to welcome Ross Davis as our new Head of Campus. His passion for education, coupled with a proven track record of leadership, will undoubtedly strengthen our commitment to nurturing a holistic educational experience at Reddford House Blue Hills,” said Ravi Nadasen, CEO of Inspired Africa.

Ross Davis brings more than professional achievements to the role; he also embodies a diverse range of interests, from athletics to the arts. His appointment underscores Reddford House Blue Hills' ongoing commitment to fostering a dynamic and supportive community.

Commenting on his new school, Davis says, "Even though Reddord House Blue Hills is based in a fast-paced hub, it essentially functions as a small, caring community where pupils are nurtured. As the new head, I want to achieve stability in the school, aiming for academic, cultural, and sporting excellence while always seeing each member of our school as an individual."

What are the biggest lessons you have learned in your career in education?
"Change is constant, and we need to embrace it to continually move forward. Attitude is what determines success, not the size of the school."

What is your leadership philosophy?
"To ensure my school community feels safe and appreciated. Then success is naturally achieved."

What do you believe are the qualities every teacher should have?
"Compassionate and respectful."

What has been your greatest accomplishment?
"I came from a very humble and poor background and was the first person in my family to obtain a university qualification."

Who has had the greatest impact on you in your life?
"I have had two mentors who have had a profound impact on my life, Sister Francis Sheehy (Sister of Mercy) and Father Graham Pugin (Jesuit Priest)."

If you could meet any person in history, who would you choose and what would you discuss?
"The British Athlete Eric Liddell - we would discuss his convictions and what it felt like to give up on something so important and that had been his goal for four years because he was not prepared to compromise on his religious beliefs."

What is an invention you feel needs to be created, and what need does it fill?
"A filtration system for our rivers - we need to protect our environment."

If you could give your teenage self one piece of advice, what would you share?
“As you prepare for your future career enrol for enjoyment not employment.

What interests do you hope to pursue this year?
“Complete a course on coding in python, complete my 25th Ride Joburg cycle challenge, and run at least two marathons.”

What subject were you best in during school? Why do you feel you excelled at it?
“Accountancy and Mathematics. I love the challenge of solving problems.”

What are you most grateful for in your life?
"I know it seems obvious, but being healthy so that I can do all I enjoy."

Do you have children of your own?
"I have two young children, Bronwyn Leigh who is 22 and completing her Fine Arts honours at Wits University, and Russell John, who is 19 and hoping to study Computer Science overseas."
