Environmental-Focus Learnerships : Green Skills for a Green Economy
As far back as 2013, green skills were identified as a priority in South Africa and investment in green skills planning acknowledged as critical for long-term performance of a greener economy.
A green economy is one that results in improved human well-being and social equity, while significantly reducing environmental risks and ecological scarcities. Green jobs are those that contribute substantially to preserving or restoring environmental quality. This includes jobs that help to protect ecosystems and biodiversity; reduce energy, material and water consumption through high-efficiency strategies; de-carbonise the economy and minimise the generation of all forms of waste and pollution.
Skills development plays a crucial role in seizing opportunities and unlocking the potential of green jobs which is why 5Inc has developed the custom Environmental Focus Learnership course which combines the SETA accredited New Venture Creation qualification with fit for purpose environmental modules.
This Environmental Focus Learnership is a year-long programme that includes accredited and non-accredited training modules, and work-integrated learning.
