DESTINY, IN ASSOCIATION WITH OLD MUTUAL, RELEASES ITS ANNUAL GOOD SCHOOLS REPORT
Written by: Save to Instapaper
In the spirit of Mandela Month, we celebrate education this July in partnership with Old Mutual as we release our annual Good Schools Report. It was Madiba himself who said that it isn’t beyond our power to create a world in which all children have access to good education.
DESTINY and Old Mutual trust that the Good Schools Report reflects this by profiling some of the best schools in the country. It also includes an in-depth analysis of the state of education in SA today, the increasingly important role technology is playing as a solution to developmental barriers and scarcity of resources, and the vital importance of moral awareness and social responsibility in any education.
The feature Don’t Wait: Innovate explores the evolving nature of South African schools as wifi hotspots where iPad learning, smartphones, whiteboards and online clouds are increasingly being paired with conventional “chalk and talk” instruction. Prof Jonathan Jansen, Vice-chancellor of the University of the Free State, Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi and educational psychologist Claire O’Mahony offer practical insights into the need for more technology-friendly schools and the plans underway to make this a reality across the country.
The report lists the country’s top 93 private schools and top 49 public ones. Each school is described in terms of its history, ethos, matric pass rate, university entrance pass rate, annual fee, teacher:pupil ratio, admission criteria, facilities and notable achievements. Get the latest Good Schools Report now to find out which schools are cultivating the next generation of leaders!
