Walk With Me: QINA JITA Men’s Imbizo
Submitted by: Faith Nozizwe MatholeJohannesburg, 24 September 2023 - Qina Jita is hosting its annual Boys to Men Imbizo, Conference, themed Walk With Me. The Imbizo will take place on 14 October 2023, in Soweto, at Sunrise Park.
Qina Jita is a boy-to-men movement, that inspires resilience in boys and young men to become better versions of themselves. Qina Jita seeks to engage men holistically in their language, to develop and support them psychologically, socially, industrially, and in other areas of importance.
This Imbizo promises will once more see men, young and senior and little boys from different walks of Life to come together to empower and encourage one another. It will consist of a sports tournament for the young ones, networking and mentorship activities, robust discussions and a bit of entertainment
QinaJita will bring renowned speakers and influencers to not only share the story of their lives but also share personal, industrial and social insights in this season, pertaining to the topics of personal development, career growth, family dynamics and mental wellness. We will be joined by Muzi Mthabela, a renowned Actor as one of our guest speakers.
“Why stories? Because everyone has a story to share, from their upbringing to where they are now. People see people in their harvest season, but they don’t know the struggles, labour and pain they endured to get there. It's important for men to gather and tell their stories, in their own perspectives and in their own voice”, said Neo Moseta, Founder of Qina Jita.
The men going through their tough seasons, need to know they are not alone, that life is not perfect or Rosey for anyone, and how they can learn to survive or make do with what they have while striving forwards. The Theme Walk With Me, came from an observation that men who do life alone, by themselves are vulnerable to bad decisions, including suicidal thoughts, the lack of counsel from other men, mentorship and inspiration.
We believe men in this generation need someone to hold their hand as they walk through their journey of life. Some are blessed to have had present fathers and male figures as role models, but others mainly have a bad reference of what not to be. Qina Jita and its ambassadors hope to be that partner and Reference Point.
The Imbizo is free for all men to attend. Members of the media are also invited to attend. We are seeking sponsorships to raise funds not only for the event but the annual shoe drive campaign, Qina Jita conducts for disadvantaged schoolboy children, so they may have dignity and look like other children. Last Year QinaJita donated 240 School shoes to schools in four different provinces. This year we want to double that, and we need all the help we can get.
