Benaters Registered with DIRCO as Legalisation Services Agency, Cutting Apostille Turnaround from Weeks to Days
Written by: Shaun Benater Save to Instapaper
Johannesburg, South Africa — Benaters Attorneys, Notaries and Conveyancers has been officially registered as a Legalisation Services Agency with the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), the South African government department responsible for the apostille and legalisation of public documents for international use.
The registration allows apostille and document legalisation applications submitted through Benaters to be processed in approximately 7 to 14 business days — a significant improvement on the typical 6 to 8 week processing time faced by members of the public submitting documents directly to DIRCO.
For South Africans emigrating, working abroad, studying overseas, getting married internationally, or transacting across borders, document legalisation is often the final hurdle before critical deadlines.
Foreign employers, universities, immigration authorities and banks routinely require South African documents — such as birth, marriage and death certificates, police clearance certificates, educational qualifications, powers of attorney and company documents — to be authenticated by apostille under the Hague Convention, or legalised for use in non-Hague countries.
Faster Apostille and Legalisation Services
“Delays in document legalisation can derail visa applications, job offers and international transactions,” said Shaun Benater, Managing Partner at Benaters.
“Our registration with DIRCO means clients no longer need to queue, courier documents into a backlog, or build months of waiting into their plans. We manage the entire process — from notarial certification where required, through to submission and collection — with turnaround measured in days, not weeks.”
End-to-End Legalisation Support
As a firm of attorneys, notaries and conveyancers, Benaters is able to offer an end-to-end service: preparing and notarising documents, obtaining the necessary certifications, and lodging them with DIRCO for apostille or authentication.
This is particularly valuable for documents that must first be notarised before DIRCO will process them.
The service is available to individuals, families and businesses throughout South Africa and abroad, with documents accepted by courier from anywhere in the country.
