Femicide in South Africa and Worldwide - A Crisis We Must Confront
Written by: BDCS Public Relations Office Save to Instapaper
Femicide in South Africa and worldwide remains a devastating crisis that continues to destroy lives every single day. At BDCS, we refuse to stay silent. Because our company is led by a female CEO and strengthened by many powerful women, we actively stand against gender-based violence in every form.
Every day, men murder women simply because they are women. In South Africa, the femicide rate ranks among the highest in the world. Shockingly, about 15 women lose their lives daily, often due to violence from intimate partners. Across the globe, countries such as El Salvador, Honduras, and Jamaica also face alarming levels of femicide. These numbers do not represent data points, they represent real people, lost lives, and grieving families.
Femicide in South Africa and Worldwide: Creating a Safer Workplace
To fight femicide in South Africa and worldwide, companies must take firm and consistent action to protect and uplift women. At BDCS, we intentionally build a culture that values gender equity across all levels of leadership. Furthermore, we implement zero-tolerance policies for harassment and abuse so every employee feels safe and valued.
We also provide mental health support and maintain confidential reporting channels so employees can seek help without fear. In addition, we conduct continuous training on gender-based violence to help our teams recognize danger signs and respond appropriately. By celebrating women’s voices and promoting fair opportunities, we shape a workplace that demonstrates respect and inspires change far beyond our walls.
Our Commitment to Change
At BDCS, we refuse to watch from the sidelines, we take a stand. We support initiatives that raise awareness and advocate for stronger protection of women and organizations that fight daily for justice and equality.
To end femicide in South Africa and worldwide, everyone must act, governments, businesses, and individuals alike. We must unite our voices, our influence, and our resources to protect women and to drive lasting transformation. Together, we can build a world where every woman lives freely, safely, and with dignity.
