The Gerda Guldemond Art Studio is thrilled to announce its inaugural exhibition, Six Friends Paris Inspired, bringing together six exceptional artists: Jahni Wasserfall, Thea van Schalkwyk, Sanna Swart, Dirk Oegema, Jonathan Edwards, and Gerda Guldemond herself. This diverse group shares a unique history, having studied together at the University of Pretoria in the late 1980s. Now, inspired by Gerda's ambitious new studio venture, she has invited them to mark this significant milestone with her gallery's very first opening.
Nestled in the tranquil Irene suburb of Centurion, the Gerda Guldemond Art Studio is an unique art studio and gallery built from repurposed shipping containers. It's the realization of a vision, to build a self-sustaining art venture after Gerda's impactful tenure at the Pretoria Art Museum.
This innovative space boasts spectacular sunset views and rich birdlife, with the vision of becoming a true creative haven for artists, a place where countless wonderful memories will be made.
Fittingly, the exhibition embraces a captivating Parisian theme. This iconic European capital, a global hub for art, fashion, cuisine, and culture, has long inspired artists. It's a particularly apt theme, given Gerda's own studio was conceived after a pivotal, "go big or go home" trip to Paris.
