Just last week, 47-year-old Alice Susman from Bellavista, Johannesburg received her title deed, after having applied for her deed in 1996. This was after the ANC administration failed to deliver, she finally received her title deed after she reapplied at the City of Johannesburg in 2017.
Alice is a single parent of three children and three grandchildren. After her reapplication, the City discovered that her title deed from 1996 had been approved years ago but was never granted to her. This is yet another indication that the ANC was too busy enriching itself to care about delivering to Alice and her children, and many more residents.
Last month, the City of Joburg delivered 334 title deeds to beneficiaries in Pennyville, with 15 more title deeds to be issued soon. Title deeds were recently issued to residents of Eldorado Park as well.
The City is hard at work to provide more housing opportunities to the people of Joburg. Last year the City announced a multi-year capital budget of R1.9 billion to fund the Johannesburg Social Housing Company’s purchase of buildings in the inner City. These buildings will be renovated to create social housing opportunities for those in need.
We know it won’t happen overnight but the DA is dedicated to better housing delivery for our people.
The DA is committed to bringing about the change that people voted for in 2016. We know that it will take hard work but we are dedicated to ensuring a new beginning for the people of Joburg and Gauteng as a whole
