The Power of Eaton Hydraulics in Mining

Submitted by: LEIGH FORDER

The ever-growing footprint of Eaton Hydraulics into Africa, with an additional 3 acquisitions in 4 years, makes the division a force to be reckoned with in the mining and industrial sectors. Having re-invented the Eaton brand in the electrical and hydraulics fields, with over 55% of revenue in hydraulics for the group being spent outside of the USA, Eaton Hydraulics brings the power of Eaton to trade and industry to your doorstep.

Astrid Mozes – President Hydraulics Group EMEA and Nick Fossey, Manager, Sales & Marketing (Europe, Middle East & Africa recently travelled to South Africa and met with South Africa's General Manager of Eaton Hydraulics, Emil Berning. The focus of their discussions at an informal meeting was the power of Eaton in the mining sector.

"Eaton is influential in many mining applications", Nick Fossey explains, " With Eaton hydraulic components and systems for underground mining having been engineered to meet the unique requirements of this extremely difficult and often dangerous environment, we have become natural leaders in this sector."

Eaton offers both standard and custom engineered hydraulic solutions for the mining sector. Emil Berning further adds to the discussion by explaining, "Products that are able to provide reduced noise levels, excellent fire resistance, and high power density to facilitate compact equipment designs, are products that are used in mining applications – and more often than not, these products are Eaton brands."

Along with the performance and durability needed to sustain 24/7 production operations at peak efficiency, Eaton Hydraulics offers expertise in planning and technology that is value-added to many applications. "We tailor-make a solution for customers." Astrid Mozes says, "With customer focus training and marketing, we are able to continue the drive of working with our customers to offer best-practise solutions, no matter what the situation".

Nick ends off by briefly summarising the Eaton Hydraulics mining sector products:

·       Eaton cylinders, valves, pumps, motors, connectors, and fittings are key components on many of the industry's most widely-used roof bolting rigs.

·       Eaton cylinders, valves, pumps, motors, connectors, and fittings are key components on many of the industry's most widely-used face drilling rigs.

·       Eaton hose, fittings, and connectors reliably deliver hydraulic power to collector arms, ground drives, and other key systems on continuous miners. Engineered to minimize outgassing while providing maximum wear and abrasion resistance, Eaton hose products work with Eaton pumps, motors, and valves to produce high-reliability mining solutions.

·       Eaton pumps, valves, hoses, fittings and connectors supply hydraulic power to operate the booms and buckets of underground wheel loaders. Eaton hydraulic steering systems are also used on the articulated trucks served by the loaders.

That's the Power of One Eaton.
