{pp}The Powerzone Schools Tour, an initiative started in 2006 in conjunction with the Powerzone Roadshow, will be taking place in schools and under 18 friendly venues across the country in May of this year. Comprised of three top South African bands, namely The Finkelstiens, 16Stitch and Bloodmoney, the Schools Tour will give learners access to quality South African music in a safe and chaperoned environment.
Standing alone for the first year as a separate entity to the Powerzone Roadshow, the School’s tour has been specifically crafted for the under 18s market. Open to all ages and members of all schools, the tour concerts will give learners a crash course in South African rock and a taste of the phenomenal talented offered locally. The music showcased by the three bands will not promote unwholesome ideals and the music content will be free of lyrics encouraging explicit sex or violence. Up until now, there have been very few platforms for learners to have access to South African music. Gigs take place in clubs or bars, which under 18s are blocked from. Powerzone has created an annual event, which allows learners to sample the music in an environment and through a tour specifically crafted for them.
