After months of anticipation and preparation, the 2019 Patrón Perfectionists competition for South Africa. The final experience began with the top six regional finalists hosting media and industry guests at the internationally acclaimed Foliage restaurant in Franschhoek. Under the guidance of founder, Chris Erasmus, guests enjoyed a unique foraging experience in the forests of Franschhoek. The partnership was an extension to the deep rooted brand values that the iconic tequila brand believe in such as environmental responsibility, sustainability, preserving the community and social responsibility. The organic foraged ingredients were then used to create 6 delicious courses alongside well-known local chefs Kamini Pather, Katelyn of the KateTin fame and Chef Mbombi. These culinary talents created inspired courses that took the guests on a sensory experience of tastes, smells and sight.
On the evening of 4 October 2019 the grand finale took place at the all-new Cause Effect bar in Cape Town. The Patrón Perfectionists top 6 finalists came together to compete for the much anticipated title- an industry testament to skill and creativity. David van Zyl arose victorious among his 5 peers, as his Dove Tail cocktail- an ode to his late grandfather-wowed the judges to their unanimous decision. Van Zyl will represent South Africa at the international final taking place at the home of Patrón, Hacienda Patrón in Atotonilco el Alto, Jalisco, Mexico in January 2020.
