The 2022 Knysna Oyster Festival is happening right now! If you’re not in Knysna yet, do yourself a favour and get yourself to the area before the fun ends on 10 July. “The fun starts now,” said Festival Manager Andrew Finn. “And we are excited – and ready – to share an amazing line-up of events and entertainment with our festival goers.”
A number of activities and live entertainment kicks off the festival on 1 July, and the party really starts when GoodLuck and Steve Umculo take to the stage on Saturday 2 July. While sportspeople and music lovers won’t have any time to sit still over these ten days, there’s also more to experience and enjoy than you might expect…
Local event organisers have taken full advantage of our post-pandemic freedom to make sure that something is happening all throughout the greater Knysna area – from Sedgefield to Hornlee – offering something for everyone. The programme is filled to the proverbial shell’s brim with not only sport but art and culture, boats and bikes, tours and workshops, nature and self-nurture, food and wine, and oysters and bubbly. Even those who are allergic to shellfish will find something to enjoy this year.
“It has been a while since Knysna has seen an Oyster Festival with so much variety, with everything organised by locals, for locals,” said Executive Mayor Levael Davis. “Thank you to those who are making arrangements behind the scenes so that the rest of us can have a good time. And welcome back to our visitors – I know that you will enjoy the best ten days of your winter with the rest of us – we’ve missed you.”
The Oyster Hunt begins on 1 July – have you entered to play? Explore Knysna, take part in daily challenges and win great prizes.
