HYPROP MTN SHIFT Tournament Highlights Following Exciting Gaming Weekend at Woodlands Boulevard

R200k in prize money, eight qualifiers nationwide, culminating in one epic gaming showdown…this is the MTN SHIFT Gaming Experience 2024!

Round five of the 2024 HYPROP MTN SHIFT Gaming Experience took place at Woodlands Boulevard in the City of Tshwane, from 19 to 21 July 2024. The country’s biggest mall-based gaming showdown turned into a magnet for the region’s most devoted gamers, who came together for a weekend packed with epic battles and a sense of community.

The highlight was the exhilarating EAFC tournament, where local gaming legends unleashed their incredible skills and strategies. Following a fierce battle, the winners emerged:

• 1st Place: Thabo Moloi
• 2nd Place: Katlego Mphaka
• 3rd Place: Ighsaan Brinkhuis

Thabo Moloi will now advance to the national finale, promising to be a showdown of epic proportions, scheduled for 11 to 15 September 2024 at Canal Walk in Cape Town, where the finalists will battle it out for the ultimate title and a share of the massive R200,000 grand prize pool.

A Weekend of Gaming Action at Woodlands Boulevard

There was an electric atmosphere as gamers and fans gathered for a weekend filled with epic competitions and interactive entertainment at Woodlands Boulevard. The HYPROP MTN SHIFT Gaming Experience drew onlookers and gamers alike, transforming the mall into a gamer’s paradise.

The highlight of the event was the intense EAFC tournament, where players showcased their incredible skills and strategies to claim the title of the best. The thrills didn’t end there. Virtual racing aficionados were glued to the action during the pulse-pounding GT 7 Races, pushing their virtual cars to the brink. Fortnite enthusiasts engaged in high-speed, tactical battles, while those craving action got their fix in the Fighting Game Face-offs, displaying their prowess in hits like Tekken and Street Fighter. Minecraft fans also had their moment, showing off their creativity and survival instincts in captivating challenges.

• Rocket League Matches: Players competed in high-energy Rocket League games, striving for victory with every goal.
• Brawlhalla Bouts: Fans of platform fighting games enjoyed intense matches in Brawlhalla.
• Aim Lab Challenges: Attendees tested their precision and marksmanship in these skill-based trials.
• MTN Beat Saber Challenge: Visitors experienced the thrill of the rhythm-based VR game, with the top scorer of the weekend winning an Xbox Series S.
• Keyboard Rebuild Race: Participants raced against time to rebuild keyboards, vying for exciting prizes.

The gaming weekend at Woodlands Boulevard highlighted the skills of South Africa’s gaming community while creating an energetic and welcoming environment. • Table Bay Mall Online Qualifier: 4 August
• Table Bay Mall Event: 9 to 11 August
• Capegate Online Qualifier: 18 August
• Capegate Event: 23 to 25 August
• Canal Walk Online Qualifier: 8 September
• Canal Walk Event: 11 to 15 September

These HYPROP MTN SHIFT Gaming Experience events will continue to deliver not only the main EAFC tournament but also a variety of other gaming competitions and activities that promise fun and excitement for all.

Grand Finale and Prizes

The stage is set for the grand finale at Canal Walk, where the best of the best will compete for the ultimate glory and a share of the R50,000 prize pool:
