GEMS Elevates Health and Wellness at the 2024 Rand Show

Johannesburg, 27 March 2024 – In an initiative to showcase its dedication to improving health and wellness, the Government Employees Medical Scheme (GEMS), South Africa's largest restricted medical scheme and the country's second largest overall, is excited to announce its continued partnership with The Rand Show, the Nation's largest and most iconic consumer lifestyle event. This collaboration is a testament to GEMS's commitment to enhancing the well-being of its members and the broader South African community.
Set to make a significant impact, GEMS will feature in Hall 5 of the Johannesburg Expo Centre, Nasrec, from 28 March to 1 April 2024. The GEMS stand promises a unique experience for visitors, offering them the chance to interact directly with healthcare professionals, access essential health checks, and enjoy complimentary therapeutic massages, demonstrating the scheme's focus on overall wellness.
Dr. Stan Moloabi, the Principal Officer of GEMS, emphasises the critical role of the Rand Show as a conduit for essential health and wellness dialogues. "The Rand Show offers a unique platform that allows us to connect deeply with our members and the wider community, underscoring the significance of preventive healthcare and comprehensive wellbeing initiatives," stated Dr. Moloabi.
Key Highlights of GEMS' Participation:
Personal Health Consultations: A chance for members to meet with health professionals face-to-face, addressing health concerns and gaining valuable wellness information.Health Checks and Therapeutic Massages: Complimentary health evaluations and therapeutic massage services will be offered, emphasising GEMS's dedication to preventive healthcare initiatives and the enhancement of mental well-being.
Reflecting on one of the scheme's strategic goals, which relates to growth, Dr. Moloabi added, "Our partnership with the Rand Show perfectly aligns with our objective of growing our membership and contributing to the wider community. We are thrilled to offer an experience that marries education, entertainment, and wellness, positively impacting our members' health journeys."
