Johannesburg, South Africa – 25 November 2024 – The highly anticipated rAge 2024 is gearing up to celebrate Africa’s thriving gaming and esports culture with two headline events: the Mamelodi Sundowns Esports Championship and the Mzansi Esports Champions 2024 featuring the Queen Arrow Invitational. The event promises a weekend of intense competition, innovation, and collaboration, shining a spotlight on African talent and entrepreneurship.
Mamelodi Sundowns Esports Championship (EA FC 25)
In collaboration with Mettlestate, the Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club brings the third instalment of the Mamelodi Sundowns Esports Championship to rAge. The competition will see South Africa’s top eight EA FC players battle for a share of the R200,000 prize pool, culminating in a live finale at the expo.
This year introduces an exciting twist: two wildcard entries from the Kasi-Flare Tournamentz, a township-based EA FC competition across Gauteng, hosted by Mettlestate and Penrose Esports.

Mzansi Esports Champions 2024: Celebrating African Esports and Female Empowerment
rAge proudly partners with SAGES to host the Mzansi Esports Champions 2024, a groundbreaking two-day celebration of esports innovation, talent, and entrepreneurship in Africa.
Day 1: Business Meetings – Empowering Esports Entrepreneurs
On Friday, 29 November, the focus shifts to fostering collaboration and growth within the esports industry. Industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and gaming professionals will gather for panel discussions, networking, and strategy sessions addressing topics such as:
- Entrepreneurship in African Esports: Opportunities and challenges in the evolving sector.
- Female Leadership in Gaming: The pivotal role of women in shaping the industry.
- Cross-Continental Collaboration: Connecting African esports to global markets.
This day highlights the importance of female innovation and entrepreneurship, laying the groundwork for a dynamic esports ecosystem.
Days 2 and 3: The Queen Arrow Invitational – A Spotlight on Female Talent
On Saturday, 30 November, and Sunday, 1 December, the spotlight turns to the Queen Arrow Invitational, a 100% female Tekken 8 tournament featuring eight of Africa’s best female players. Competitors hail from across the continent, representing the diversity and skill within African esports:

- Setsabile Shabangu (Eswatini)
- Safidy Mahaliana Andrianisoa "Sentaku" (Madagascar)
- Bwalia Nkumbula (Zambia)

- Matimbe Gweyneth Edina "Gwyn Stacy" (Malawi)
