Crocworld Flying High After a Bumper Festive Season
Written by: Olivia Jones Communications Save to Instapaper
The full festive season programme at Crocworld Conservation Centre attracted a large number of visitors to this Scottburgh-based attraction. The festivities kicked off in December with the Crocworld Raffle, where Jackie Smit from Gauteng was announced as the winner of an incredible kids’ activity hamper valued at R1,000. This celebration coincided with the 124th birthday of Henry, the centre’s celebrity Nile crocodile, believed to be the oldest known Nile crocodile in captivity worldwide.
On his birthday, 16 December, visitors enjoyed complimentary cupcakes from Crocworld while Henry’s best friend, Colgate – the second-oldest and largest crocodile in the park – lounged nearby. Guests also participated in the Crocworld holiday programme, which included feeds and demonstrations, Crocworld Carols by Candlelight Day and Night Market, after-dark Jikaleza Outdoor Adventures ziplining, and the release of the WildED Crocworld Activity Book. This engaging book was created by Kayleigh Huysamen, a South African children’s conservation book author from Wild Kids Books SA.
Upgrades to Enhance Visitor Experiences
In preparation for the festive rush, Crocworld underwent several upgrades. These included repainting the iconic Crocworld sign visible from the N2 and revarnishing the wraparound deck at the popular Fish Eagle Café, where new umbrellas were installed to provide much-needed shade on sunny summer days.
Looking Ahead to 2025
The fun at Crocworld doesn’t stop here, with even more exciting events and developments planned for 2025!
