As strong family units and healthy relationships are more important than ever, the new South African reality show, Die Uitnodiging, aims to reconnect families, mend broken relationships and encourage healing.
According to the host and executive producer Cato Bekker, reviving broken relationships is at the heart of Die Uitnodiging as the show helps participants make contact, have a discussion and make amends.
Cato, who has also worked extensively on radio, explains, “COVID-19 and the resulting lockdown restrictions has made many of us realise the importance of family and fostering healthy relationships. For many, it was a time of reflection and introspection. Die Uitnodiging provides a platform to bring people together with their estranged loved ones in a setting that is conducive to open and honest conversation and healing.”
Die Uitnodiging aired its first season on DSTV’s kykNet in October 2020 to rave reviews, leading to the production of season 2. Cato continues, “There was something about Die Uitnodiging that really resonated with viewers, especially at a time where loneliness, isolation and vulnerability were at an all-time high. With season 2 on its way, we’re excited about the prospect of healing broken relationships and reconnecting people once more.”
Applications for season 2 of Die Uitnodiging are now open, and South Africans who have broken relationships with their loved ones are encouraged to reach out. “We’re ready to assist in bringing South Africans together again and opening up a dialogue of reconciliation and healing,” Cato concludes.
