Maya’s Kitchen Celebrates over 11 years of Proudly South African Service Celebrity Chefs add a twist of their own flavours to leading purveyor of specialist kitchenware - Maya’s Kitchen Maya’s Kitchen celebrates being well over a decade next year and that is all due to an incredibly dynamic woman operating predominantly behind the scenes; the creative force of Maya Bremridge.

The business has been family run since its Head Quarter’s inception 30 years ago and has slowly built a solid reputation as being a destination for specialist kitchenware and cookware, in addition to offering a selection of unique, fun and quirky elements that appeal to an ever expanding and wide “wanna be chef” audience. Since 1997, the brand has successfully sustained two branches, with the flagship store having firmly established itself in Cavendish Square. Its sister branch opened officially in 2005, and recently relocated to Main Road Sea Point for maximum visibility.

Each branch has its own dedicated loyal clientele following and has become one of the leading distributors to both Bank’s, Woolworths and various hotels and restaurants within the Western Cape. Maya was primarily trained by her father Vernon Bremridge, a veteran in his own right and owner and manufacturer of Nutri-Stahl Cookware, which produce some of the highest quality stainless steel cookware locally.

Having originally commenced her career in hospitality, Maya promptly realised that there was a definite and distinct niche in the marketplace to supply hotels and restaurants directly with their extensive and durable cookware range. In hindsight, the timing of the decision to supply hotels and restaurants directly turned out to be critical as well as significant, considering the regional chain @home had yet to be developed. Maya’s Kitchen success has been purely based on its consistent level of service par excellence and with its extensive range of cookware and kitchenware appliances, has clearly assisted in placing the brand and positioning it as a leading contender in a niche market. In addition, it is currently building upon its empire by conducting various cooking schools for both adults and children with a touch of her favourite tried and tested recipes and celebrity ambassadors including Neil Jewell, Charcuterie and Head Chef of Bread & Wine and Chef Peter Goffe-Wood, author of Kitchen Cowboys lend their approval in cooking with Maya’s kitchen and cookware.

The company’s vision according to Maya is to continuously import new and exciting elements that add colour, fun, flavour and life to the kitchen, ensuring chores like mopping the floor are seem less laborious. With Maya’s attention to detail and the added advantage of constant travel to international trade shows, the store has always maintained its quest for sourcing unique features and unusual cooking products. Being a working mother with a young vibrant daughter, has also added to its projection and diversity.
